JNMI Calibration and Measuring Laboratories

   

General Overview


JNMI comprises 14 laboratory disseminated between primary and secondary level. We are concerned in providing an adequate measuring and calibration services via traceable calibrated references in both its primary and secondary level to satisfy the national and regional needs, thus our laboratory divisions can be summarized as follows:

 
  • National Primary Laboratories , which comprise national measurement standards that are considered the most accurate measuring standards on the national level in the following fields:

  • Electrical measurement such as measurement of voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, Inductance , frequency and time.

  • Physical and mechanical measurement such as Temperature , Humidity, Dimension, Pressure, Mass, and Force.
     

  • The secondary laboratories , which comprise a less accurate measuring standards, providing calibration services in the fields of the electrical, physical and mechanical measurement as well as Power , flow, volume, speed, luminance, and biomedical measurement equipment.

Our Electrical Calibration Laboratories are accredited by The German Accreditation Body DAkkS – GERMANY. The Registration Number is : D–K–15025-01 and Fully comply with the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025 for all issued calibration certificates , and is also ISO 9001:2000 certified

  1. The Fundamental Electrical Laboratory ,for calibration and measuring, consists the following:

  1. National Primary laboratory for electrical measurement and calibration , which has the following functions:

 

  • maintain and assure the traceability of the National Measurement Standards of DC voltage, DC current, AC current, AC voltage, resistance, capacitance, and inductance

  • calibration of a highly accurate and reliable equipments related to these national units

  • conducts technical consultancy, training, and advice in the electrical field

  • research development and projects

 

The national reference standards for this National Primary Laboratory are:

   
  • Four voltage cells that varies from 1.018 v to 10.018 v, and with an accuracy of 1ppm

  • Eleven calibration resistors that ranges from 1 ohm to 19M ohm, and with an accuracy that varies from 1ppm to15ppm for every 1 ohm resistance

  • Four calibration capacitors that ranges from 1pF to 10000pF with an accuracy of 0.0002 pF to 0.0016 mF

  • Six calibration inductance that ranges from 100uH to 10H and with an accuracy that varies from 0.12 μH to 0.027 H

 

  1. Secondary Laboratory for electrical measurement and calibration , which function is to calibrate less accurate equipments using reference standards.

  1. Frequency and time calibration and measuring laboratory, consists the following:

  1. National Primary Laboratory for Time and Frequency measurement and calibration , which has the following functions:

 

  • Maintain and assure the traceability of the National Measurement Standards of Frequency and Time

  • calibration of a highly accurate and reliable equipments related to these national units

  • conducts technical consultancy, training, and advice in the frequency and time field

  • research development and projects

 

The national reference standards for this National Primary laboratory are: reference frequency generator (cesium oscillator), and rubidium oscillator, as will as GPS system that has an accuracy of 5x10 -13

  1. National Primary laboratory for Temperature measurement and calibration , which has the following functions:

 

  • Maintain and assure the traceability of the National Measurement Standards of Temperature

  • calibration of a highly accurate and reliable equipments related to these national units

  • conducts technical consultancy, training, and advice in Temperature

  • research development and projects

 

The national reference standards for this National Primary Laboratory are:

   
  1. eight fixed point cells that represent part of the ITS-90 that range from 0.01ºC to 1084.62ºC with an accuracy of 16 mK to 800 mK

  2. resistance temperature detector represented by standard platinum resistance thermometer (SPRT) with an accuracy that can reach to 40ppm per centigrade

  1. National Primary laboratory for Humidity measurement and calibration , which has the following functions:

 

 

  • Maintain and assure the traceability of the National Measurement Standards of Humidity

  • Calibration of a highly accurate and reliable equipments related to these national units

  • Conducts technical consultancy, training, and advice in Humidity

 

The national reference standards for this National Primary Laboratory are:

   
  • Dew Point Meter (Mirror),Model MBW473 with a range from 0 to 100 % , -20 to 80 oC. with an Accuracy of 0.3 %, 0.2 oC

  • Dead weight tester that ranges from 8 kPa to 70 MPa with an accuracy between 14 ppm to 28ppm

  • Conduct technical consultancy, training, and advice in Force

  • research development and projects

  • Set of load cells with class 00 that ranges from 1kN to 2MN

 
  1. Secondary laboratory for force measurement and calibration Which function is to calibrate less accurate equipments using reference standards

   
     
  1. Secondary Flow and Volume Laboratory for calibration and measuring; which has the following functions:

  • calibration of flow measuring devices with a maximum range of 1000L/min and with an accuracy that can reach to 0.2%

  • calibration of volume measuring devices with a maximum range that can reach to 200L and an accuracy of 1%

  • Conduct technical consultancy, training, and advice in Flow and Volume

  1. Secondary laboratory for Biomedical Equipments measurement and calibration ; that has the following functions:

  • Calibrate biomedical equipment and clinical devices such as ECG tester, anesthesia, recovery machines clinical thermometers and pressure devices, to guarantee the health and safety of an individual

  • Conduct technical consultancy, training, and advice in Biomedical equipments

  • research development and projects

 

   
     
  1. Secondary laboratory for speed s measurement and calibration ; that has the following functions:

  • Calibrate speed measuring devices with a maximum range that reach to 100000 rpm and an accuracy of 1rpm

  • Conduct technical consultancy, training, and advice in Speed

  1. Secondary laboratory for Luminance measurement and calibration ; that has the following functions:

  • Calibrate luminance measuring devices with a maximum range that reach to 100000 Lux and an accuracy of 2%

  • Conduct technical consultancy, training, and advice in Luminance
